Truck Convoy for Special Olympics Alberta registers 78 vehicles

The 2017 Truck Convoy for Special Olympics Alberta took place September 16 in Calgary. The 78 registered vehicles, many accompanied by Special Olympic athletes, left from the Rosenau Transport yard in Rocky View County and made their way south on Stony Trail and Highway 2. The convoy turned around at Aldersyde before making their way back, an almost 100 kilometre trip.

STA and National Trucking Week
The STA is elated about its ongoing involvement in Canada’s National Trucking Week celebrations. National Trucking Week evolved out of the need to show the importance of the trucking industry as it was felt that as an important fiber in the country’s economic blanket, it was not recognized enough. Executive Director of the STA, Susan Ewart, said: “The STA wholeheartedly supports this weeklong initiative as it cannot be stressed enough how important the truck transport industry is to the economy.”

MTA celebrates National Trucking Week in a BIG way
National Trucking Week was recognized in Manitoba with events almost each day, raising over $100,000 for various charities throughout the province.

On Tuesday, the MTA hosted the grand re-opening of its facility at 25 Bunting Street in Winnipeg at which The Honourable Ron Schuler, Minister of Infrastructure, spoke. It was wonderful to see so many members come to tour the new facility that day.
