Earle’s Transfer Inc. is a third-generation family-owned and operated business, based out of Treherne

, MB, that can handle all your freight needs. To recognize Earle’s Transfer Inc.’s 75 years in the business, Western Canada Highway News had the opportunity to connect with Don Earle, second generation, and Lesley Earle, wife of Brent, third generation of the Earle family.

Note from the Editor: Don sent us a hand-written letter, which we’ve transcribed and published for this article. Thank you Don, Lesley and your family for sharing your story with us.

 Letter from Don Earle:

Earle’s Transfer Inc. is a general freight carrier, based out of Treherne, in south-west Manitoba. Equipment consists of four tractors and five trailers, reefers, vans and flat decks. The operation is housed in a heated shop, where some maintenance is performed by the staff. The office is located at a separate location and managed by Lesley Earle, Brent’s wife.

The majority of the work comes from LTL freight out of Winnipeg, five days a week, along with some single trip full loads, mainly Manitoba.

Bill Earle was the original owner purchasing the franchise in 1946. His son Don purchased the business in 1972 from his parents, now having been involved for 60 years. Don’s son Brent became a partner and manager in the recent years.

Always watching for a chance to expand, Bill purchased two opposition franchises in Treherne in the early 1950s. Next he purchased Holland Transfer in 1966. Later Don purchased Notre Dame Transfer in 1987. Running good equipment and giving good service are two of the strong points Earle’s Transfer tries to maintain. Same day service is the way in many cases. The addition of semi-trailers versus the straight jobs was a good move in the late 1950s, allowing Earle’s to handle the larger freight, having the only semi from Winnipeg #2 to #10 highway. Then later de-regulation came into effect making more change in our plans. Trucking companies popped up everywhere.

Safety has always taken priority with Earle’s management and staff. Having been a member of the MTA for nearly 50 years and attending seminars and courses when possible. Earle’s is proud to have a number of ‘Driver of the Month’ awards.

As for the future, the Earle family will be cautious and try to remain in the game they love! COVID-19 has put a hold on any party for now. Thank you!

Lesley Earle is so proud of everything that Earle’s Transfer Inc. stands for – hard work, safety, customer service – and the company’s natural responsiveness to urgent packages and situations, mistakes that occur at work and changes that happen in the industry.

“Things have changed in the last few years,” Lesley explains. “Many years ago, we would head to Winnipeg no matter what the weather was doing. Now we really take a look at the weather conditions before we head out. Common sense does prevail and we don’t want to end up in a ditch or have a trailer full of perishables we can’t go home with. As far as equipment safety, that has always been a priority.”

When it comes to customer service, Earle’s Transfer Inc. goes above and beyond for the call of duty. Working under their motto, Good Customer Service, Earle’s Transfer Inc. serves its clients and communities with open communication and flexible delivery times that accommodate people’s schedules.

“People are busy and we know that. We definitely feel that we create a good relationship with our customers,” said Lesley.

Earle’s Transfer Inc. is currently in its third-generation of family, owning and operating the business, and may see a fourth-generation come in one day. Lesley explains that her and Brent’s two children are working in other fields; however, their daughter’s boyfriend is one of the drivers for Earle’s Transfer Inc.

To celebrate this historic milestone, Earle’s Transfer Inc. is proud to show their new logo that declares their 75th anniversary in the business. Congratulations to the Earle family!
