Inception – 1923
A young, 20-year-old Peter K. (P.K.) Penner launched Penners Transfer with a single truck (a Model-T Ford), hauling freight between Winnipeg and Steinbach, Manitoba. The road to Steinbach was the Dawson Trail, originally built to move troops, weapons and supplies from the Lakehead to Winnipeg during the days of the North-West Rebellion in the 1880s, which became a ‘trail’ over local farmland to Steinbach.

Since 1913, BCTA has remained a member-based, province-wide, non-partisan, non-profit motor carrier association formed solely to advance the interests of British Columbia motor carriers.

Ocean Trailer is a third-generation family business – so when asked how long he has been in the industry, his reply was, “Well, sort of from birth.” Mack started working on school breaks in the wash bay and picking up yard garbage at 12 years old. “But technically, I’ve worked at Ocean Trailer for eight years. We have been members of the MTA for 22 years.
