Edmonton, AB – The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Bennett as Chair of its Board of Directors.
Bennett is the Vice-President at NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul and has been actively involved with AMTA for more than 15 years, including serving as the Senior Vice-Chair since 2018. As Board Chair, Bennett will help advance the AMTA’s proposed safety and innovation campus and other initiatives to tackle Alberta’s commercial driver shortage.
“Trucking is the engine that keeps our supply chains flowing and drives Alberta’s economy forward. Our province’s economic recovery is fragile, so we need a robust, dynamic commercial transportation industry now more than ever,” said Bennett.
“AMTA is committed to building partnerships, investing in innovation, and advancing education and safety so we can overcome challenges and embrace opportunities. I look forward to working with our membership and partners to advance our Board’s strategic goals and find solutions to propel our industry forward.”
Bennett brings significant safety and prevention experience to his new role. Starting his career as a firefighter and paramedic, he became a Remedial Measures Advisor (RMA) in 1995, which involved responding to significant dangerous goods incidents for road, rail, and pipelines.
In 2005, he became a Manager of Safety and Security for major projects all over North America at Enbridge. Five years later, he joined NCSG to oversee loss management and compliance, later taking on the additional role of Vice-President of Operations.
“Whether energy, telecommunications, or agriculture, industries are transforming before our eyes. Commercial transportation is no different. Between innovation, digitization, and ESG measures, trucking is changing quickly. AMTA is committed to addressing today’s challenges so we can embrace tomorrow’s opportunities. That includes working towards better resources, training, and credentials to keep Alberta rolling,” Bennett added.
In addition to Bennett, AMTA’s Board Executive includes Immediate Past Chair Doug Paisley (Lethbridge Truck Terminals), Senior Vice-Chair Real Durand (Bison Transport), and Vice-Chair Brad Beerling (Meridian Manufacturing).
