At a board meeting at the end of January, the STA board and staff developed a list of priorities for advocacy efforts in 2019. The key priorities include:

1. Carrier Safety, including education on the abuse of the Driver Inc business model, enforcement, regulatory oversight.
2. ELDs in Saskatchewan
3. Mandatory Entry Level Training. Oversight and standardization or curriculum and delivery by driver training schools, participation in development of a national standard as announced in January.
4. Human Resource Strategies Addressing the truck driver shortage, recruitment and retention education for members, amendments to immigration policy and increasing the profile of the industry to attract new entrants
5. Membership Development and Training. Continued growth of the STA Membership and expansion of training services offered by the STA.
