Since early 2017, the Saskatchewan Trucking Association has been working closely with Saskatchewan Government Insurance and the trucking industry to move Saskatchewan towards a standard curriculum for all Class 1 trainees in Saskatchewan. After a spring meeting with Minster Hargrave, Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Government Insurance, the message is clear that
Saskatchewan is on the right path in this pursuit.
The STA request is that all drivers entering truck driver training are taught a standard curriculum that includes classroom and in cab training that is a minimum of 70 hours. On a national level, the CTA and provincial association would like to see all jurisdictions move towards mandatory training and a standard curriculum is a step towards achieving this goal.
