After 38 years in Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Chief Steve Callahan is retiring.

“We have come through many changes in my time in CVEB and I can honestly say they have been for the better,” Callahan said in a statement. “My advice moving forward would be to ‘embrace change,’ look at it as an opportunity. I am leaving very confident in the organization. The branch is in great shape with a solid management team in place.”

Callahan said he will continue his work as Commissioner with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. He hinted his retirement will include fishing on the Little Bow, and “hopefully training a new dog.”

“The AMTA would like to congratulate Steve on his retirement,” said AMTA President Lorraine Card. “We thank him for his commitment to transportation and for always being willing to sit down and discuss the issues.”

A retirement party honouring Chief Callahan was held March 2 in Red Deer.
